I've always liked country. Since I was about 12, I think, I've listened to our local radio station. I'll go through stages of listening to it all the time, or not listening to it at all, but I always appreciate good country music.
I tend to like Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Rascall Flats, Lonestar, etc. So maybe I'm more into pop/rock country? I appriciate, but am not as much into, the older "Johnny Cash" country. Although he's a genius.
My newest favorite artist is Taylor Swift. I've had many arguments with people about how country she is. She's really not oober country, and definately her album "fearless" is pop country, but she's definately still country.
The way her lyrics are, are very typical of country music. The banjo and other sounds are also definate country sounds. And the jaded lover, or unrequited love songs are also quite country.
But anyway I absolutely LOVE her. I love the way she uses lyrics, I love her voice, everything. She makes me really happy, and oddly enough, reminds me of Avril Lavigne a lot, especially with her rhyming schemes and such. Particularly in the "Fearless" album, which I've heard more of.
I'm definately going to go out and buy both albums soon! If you haven't listened to her, or have only heard "Love Story" played 5 thousand times on the radio, give her another chance. She's fabulous. And I guess I'm a sap, but I adore "love story". Such a happy song.
